My name is Ryan Olsen. I am a Chiropractor and a new member of the Armstrong County Chamber of Commerce. I am originally from Mechanicsburg, PA, went to college at the University of Pittsburgh, and graduated with a degree in Communications. In my last semester at Pitt, I went to a chiropractor for the first time, which, little did I know at the time, but that visit would change my life forever. After seeing the changes he helped patients achieve, I decided that it was time to pack up and head to Davenport, Iowa, the birthplace of Chiropractic, and location of Palmer College of Chiropractic from which I graduated in 2007. Within months of graduation, I was asked to co-instruct a seminar in Singapore. After 1 week in Singapore and an offer to practice full time, my family and I decided to take a leap and head to Singapore. During our 1 year stay, I opened up 4 chiropractic offices and expanded our staff from 3 to 11. It was then we found out that our third child was on the way so we picked up again and moved back to Armstrong County. With that, I decided to devote my efforts to helping this community become healthier and more active, all through chiropractic care.
I am now in the process of opening my own practice, Olsen Chiropractic, which is set to open around the first of June. I currently live in Ford City with my wife and my 3 children. I enjoy being outdoors, playing sports, and staying healthy. I look forward to becoming an active role of the community and helping you become healthier.

Southwest Pennsylvania Air Quality Partnership

The goals of the Air Quality Partnership are to increase the public's understanding on the impact of air pollution, provide alerts for days with high air pollution, provide health effects information and guidelines to prevent or reduce exposure. and finally encourage voluntary actions to reduce air pollution emissions, especially on "Action Days".

The Partnership forecasts "Action Days", or days when air is expected to be unhealthy to breathe. Using a color-coded scale, the forecast informs people about the predicted ozone and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) levels and any precautions that need to be taken.

Ozone in the stratospheric ozone layer protects us from the sun's harmful rays. But at ground level, where we breathe it, it's not so good for us. In the summer, sunlight and high temperatures "bake" pollutants emitted by motor vehicles, power plants, industrial manufacturing and other sources to form high levels of ground-level ozone, commonly known as smog.
