Boaters Poker Run
August 2, 2008 on the Allegheny
The Chamber is planning a major boating activity on the upper Allegheny River for this summer.

The event is to begin at 11:00a.m., this is an opportunity for boating enthusiasts, with any size boat, to have a fun day on the river. While cruising, at their own pace with family and friends, boaters can enjoy wildlife and scenery along the upper Allegheny River in pools 6, 7, and 8.

The boater Poker Run is definitely not a race. This is a fun on-the-water game where boaters will navigate a course of six stops along the river. The last stop will be the Kittanning Marina where prizes will be awarded. We will also have a DJ and a meal.

The Corps of Engineers has agreed to open Locks 7, and 8 early and keep them open until 10 p.m. allowing boaters who dock up and down the river an opportunity to participate.

While specific details of the event involving checkpoints, rules, and nominal fees are being finalized, the event does include entertainment and refreshments at various checkpoints, and winners' circle activities.
